1 Corinthians 5:11 meaning and explanation
But now I am writing you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a verbal abuser, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.
1 Corinthians 5:11, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Paul is writing to the church in Corinth, where a man was living with his father's wife and the congregation had tolerated it. In verse 11 he clarifies an earlier instruction: the command not to associate with sinners applies to those who claim to be brothers yet persist in sexual immorality, greed, idolatry, verbal abuse, drunkenness or swindling.
