1 Kings 20:34 meaning and explanation

1 Kings 20:34, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Ben-hadad, defeated and hiding in Aphek, offers Ahab terms: the return of cities his father had taken from Israel, and permission for Israelite merchants to set up marketplaces in Damascus, as Aram had earlier done in Samaria. Ahab accepts and makes a treaty, calling his former besieger my brother, a conventional royal term of alliance.
