1 Kings 22:53, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
These closing words sum up the reign of Ahaziah, son of Ahab, who became king of Israel in Jehoshaphat's seventeenth year and reigned only two years in Samaria. The narrator's verdict is religious, not political: Ahaziah served and worshiped Baal, the Canaanite storm god promoted by his mother Jezebel, and so provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger, just as his father had done.
