Peter is writing to scattered believers who face suffering, and in verses 10 to 12 he points to the Old Testament prophets as witnesses to the grace now announced. Those prophets searched carefully, trying to determine the time and circumstances the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he predicted the Messiah's sufferings and the glories that would follow.
