1 Peter 1:12 meaning and explanation
It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, when they foretold the things now announced by those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
1 Peter 1:12, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Peter, writing to scattered believers in Asia Minor, continues his opening praise by pointing to the Old Testament prophets. Those prophets searched carefully into the salvation they foretold, and verse 12 says they learned their ministry was for a later generation: the readers who would hear the gospel preached by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven.
