Peter writes to Christians scattered across Asia Minor who face suspicion and slander, and verse 22 closes a sentence begun in verse 18 about Christ's suffering and vindication. The risen Jesus has entered heaven itself and taken the place of honor at God's right hand, an image drawn from Psalm 110:1, where the enthroned king rules over every enemy.
