1 Peter 5:12 meaning and explanation
Through Silvanus, whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it.
1 Peter 5:12, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Peter, writing to scattered believers facing pressure, names Silvanus, likely the same Silas who traveled with Paul, as the brother who carried or helped compose this letter. The word for "encouraging" is paraklesis, a calling alongside, the same root behind the title Paraclete given to the Holy Spirit.
