2 Chronicles 1:5 meaning and explanation

But the bronze altar made by Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, was in Gibeon before the tabernacle of the LORD. So Solomon and the assembly inquired of Him there.

2 Chronicles 1:5, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

The Chronicler explains why Solomon and the whole assembly gathered at Gibeon: the bronze altar made by Bezalel, the craftsman of the wilderness tabernacle, stood there before the LORD's tent of meeting. Though David had brought the ark to Jerusalem, the ancient altar and tabernacle remained at Gibeon, so that is where the king and people sought God.
