2 Kings 11:12 meaning and explanation

Then Jehoiada brought out the king’s son, put the crown on him, presented him with the Testimony, and proclaimed him king. They anointed him, and the people clapped their hands and declared, “Long live the king!”

2 Kings 11:12, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

After six years of hiding, Jehoiada the priest brings young Joash out of the temple and crowns him before the assembled guards and people. The "Testimony" likely refers to the covenant law, perhaps a copy placed in the king's hands, since Israel's kings were to rule under God's word.
