2 Kings 18:10 meaning and explanation
And at the end of three years, the Assyrians captured it. So Samaria was captured in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel.
2 Kings 18:10, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The narrator dates the fall of Samaria by two calendars at once, Hezekiah's sixth year in Judah and Hoshea's ninth in Israel, because the divided kingdom kept separate reckonings. The verse closes a siege begun in verse 9, when Shalmaneser of Assyria marched against Samaria.
