2 Kings 9:17 meaning and explanation
Now the watchman standing on the tower in Jezreel saw Jehu’s troops approaching, and he called out, “I see a company of troops!” “Choose a rider,” Joram commanded. “Send him out to meet them and ask, ‘Have you come in peace?’”
2 Kings 9:17, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The watchman on Jezreel's tower sees a large company approaching and reports it to King Joram, who is recovering there from wounds received fighting Aram. Joram's order to send a rider asking whether the visitors come in peace shows he suspects danger but does not yet know that Jehu, his own commander, has been anointed king and is coming to carry out God's judgment on Ahab's house.
