2 Samuel 1:25 meaning and explanation
How the mighty have fallen in the thick of battle! Jonathan lies slain on your heights.
2 Samuel 1:25, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
These lines come from David's lament, the Song of the Bow, which he composed after Saul and Jonathan died on Mount Gilboa and ordered taught to Judah. David speaks as a grieving friend and poet, not as a rival who gained a kingdom.
