2 Samuel 10:6 meaning and explanation

2 Samuel 10:6, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
After David's envoys were humiliated by Hanun, the Ammonites understood they had made themselves repulsive to Israel; the Hebrew idiom "to stink" means to become utterly offensive. Fearing retaliation, they hired Aramean mercenaries from Beth-rehob, Zobah, Maacah and Tob, all regions north and east of Israel.
