Acts 18:25 meaning and explanation
He had been instructed in the way of the Lord and was fervent in spirit. He spoke and taught accurately about Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John.
Acts 18:25, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Apollos, a Jewish teacher from Alexandria, had been instructed in the way of the Lord and taught accurately about Jesus, but his knowledge stopped at the baptism of John. That baptism was a baptism of repentance preparing people for the coming Messiah, so Apollos knew the preparation but not the full apostolic message about Jesus' death, resurrection and the Spirit.
