Acts 18:8 meaning and explanation

Crispus, the synagogue leader, and his whole household believed in the Lord. And many of the Corinthians who heard the message believed and were baptized.

Acts 18:8, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Crispus was the leader of the synagogue in Corinth, the very place where Paul had been preaching and where opposition had just grown sharp. His belief, along with that of his whole household, shows the gospel reaching a person of standing in the Jewish community, and it came right after Paul announced he would turn to the Gentiles.
