Colossians 4:10 meaning and explanation

My fellow prisoner Aristarchus sends you greetings, as does Mark the cousin of Barnabas. You have already received instructions about him: If he comes to you, welcome him.

Colossians 4:10, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Paul is writing from prison, and he passes along greetings from Aristarchus, a Thessalonian companion who shared his hardships and is called a fellow prisoner, whether literally jailed or bound to the mission. Mark is John Mark, the cousin of Barnabas, the same young man who once abandoned an earlier journey and caused a sharp disagreement between Paul and Barnabas.
