Deuteronomy 16:2 meaning and explanation
You are to offer to the LORD your God the Passover sacrifice from the herd or flock in the place the LORD will choose as a dwelling for His Name.
Deuteronomy 16:2, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Moses is speaking to Israel on the plains of Moab, preparing a people who will soon settle in Canaan, and here he reshapes the Passover for that new life. In Egypt each household slaughtered a lamb at its own door; now the sacrifice may come from the herd or the flock, and it must be brought to the single place the LORD will choose for His Name to dwell.
