Deuteronomy 18:3 meaning and explanation
This shall be the priests’ share from the people who offer a sacrifice, whether a bull or a sheep: the priests are to be given the shoulder, the jowls, and the stomach.
Deuteronomy 18:3, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Moses is speaking to Israel before they enter the land, explaining how the Levitical priests will live since they receive no tribal inheritance. Verses 1 and 2 say the LORD himself is their inheritance, and verse 3 gives that a practical shape: when someone brings a bull or a sheep as a sacrifice, the priest receives the shoulder, the jowls and the stomach.
