Deuteronomy 28:63 meaning and explanation

Just as it pleased the LORD to make you prosper and multiply, so also it will please Him to annihilate you and destroy you. And you will be uprooted from the land you are entering to possess.

Deuteronomy 28:63, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Moses speaks to Israel on the plains of Moab, setting before the people the blessings of covenant obedience and the curses of covenant breaking. Verse 63 closes the long list of curses by mirroring the language of blessing: the LORD who delighted to prosper and multiply His people will, if they persist in rebellion, delight to bring them down and uproot them from the land He is giving them.
