Deuteronomy 4:26 meaning and explanation
I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you this day that you will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You will not live long upon it, but will be utterly destroyed.
Deuteronomy 4:26, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Moses is speaking to the Israelites on the plains of Moab, just before they cross the Jordan. In verses 25 to 31 he anticipates a future generation that turns to idols, and here he formally summons heaven and earth as witnesses against them, the way a covenant treaty called its witnesses to testify to its terms.
