Ecclesiastes 6:2 meaning and explanation
God gives a man riches, wealth, and honor, so that he lacks nothing his heart desires; but God does not allow him to enjoy them. Instead, a stranger will enjoy them. This is futile and a grievous affliction.
Ecclesiastes 6:2, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The Teacher, observing life under the sun, describes a man who receives riches, wealth and honor from God's own hand and lacks nothing his heart desires, yet cannot enjoy any of it. The Hebrew verb often translated enjoy carries the sense of tasting or experiencing something good, and the Teacher treats that capacity as a gift God gives or withholds.
