Ephesians 2:13 meaning and explanation
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.
Ephesians 2:13, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Paul is writing to Gentile believers in Ephesus, reminding them in verses 11 and 12 that they were once excluded from Israel, strangers to the covenants and without hope. Verse 13 turns that around with "but now." The word "far away" echoes Isaiah's language about those distant from God, and "brought near" means being drawn into relationship with God and His people.
