Ephesians 2:12 meaning and explanation
remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.
Ephesians 2:12, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Paul is writing to Gentile believers in Ephesus, urging them to remember their former condition before Christ. In verse 11 he has just told them to recall their status as outsiders, and here he spells out what that meant: separated from the Messiah, excluded from Israel's common life, and strangers to the covenants God made with His people.
