Exodus 1:17, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Pharaoh has ordered Shiphrah and Puah, the Hebrew midwives, to kill every newborn boy, and verse 17 gives their response. The narrator names them, which is unusual for people of their station, and credits them with fearing God, meaning they reverenced him above the king's command.
