Exodus 1:21 meaning and explanation
And because the midwives feared God, He gave them families of their own.
Exodus 1:21, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The midwives Shiphrah and Puah had just disobeyed Pharaoh's order to kill Hebrew boys, explaining to him that the women gave birth too quickly for them to intervene. Their motive was fear of God, reverent obedience to the One who gives life rather than to a king who commanded death.
