Exodus 21:8 meaning and explanation
If she is displeasing in the eyes of her master who had designated her for himself, he must allow her to be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to foreigners, since he has broken faith with her.
Exodus 21:8, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
These ordinances address a household in ancient Israel where a father might sell a daughter into service, likely as a pledged wife for the master or his son. If the master set his heart on her and then rejected her, he could not simply resell her like goods.
