The LORD also said to Moses, “Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”

After Israel broke the first tablets in the golden calf incident, God renews the covenant with Moses on Sinai. Here the LORD commands Moses to write down the words just spoken, the laws of chapters 34:11-26, because the covenant is now formally established on those terms.
