Exodus 35:3 meaning and explanation
Do not light a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”
Exodus 35:3, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Moses has gathered the whole congregation at the start of the tabernacle building project, and he begins by restating the Sabbath command before any work on the sanctuary begins. The Hebrew word shabbat means cessation or rest, and the verse applies that rest to ordinary domestic life, not only to public worship.
