Exodus 8:24 meaning and explanation

And the LORD did so. Thick swarms of flies poured into Pharaoh’s palace and into the houses of his officials. Throughout Egypt the land was ruined by swarms of flies.

Exodus 8:24, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

The LORD had just warned Pharaoh through Moses that refusing to let Israel go would bring swarms of flies, while the land of Goshen where God's people lived would be spared. This verse reports that the warning came true: the insects filled Pharaoh's palace, the homes of his officials and the whole country, and the land was ruined by them.
