Exodus 8:25 meaning and explanation
Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God within this land.”
Exodus 8:25, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Pharaoh speaks these words after the fourth plague, the swarms of flies, has ruined Egypt but left Goshen untouched. His offer sounds like surrender, yet it is a compromise: Israel may worship, but only inside Egypt, where their sacrifices of animals sacred to Egyptians would provoke outrage, as Moses points out in the next verse.
