Ezekiel 44:15 meaning and explanation

But the Levitical priests, who are descended from Zadok and who kept charge of My sanctuary when the Israelites went astray from Me, are to approach Me to minister before Me. They will stand before Me to offer Me fat and blood, declares the Lord GOD.

Ezekiel 44:15, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

In Ezekiel's vision of the restored temple, God is speaking through the prophet to a people returning from exile. Verses 10 to 14 had demoted the Levites who once served idols to lesser duties, but here the descendants of Zadok, who remained faithful when Israel went astray, are singled out to approach God and serve as priests.
