Ezekiel 6:11 meaning and explanation

This is what the Lord GOD says: Clap your hands, stomp your feet, and cry out “Alas!” because of all the wicked abominations of the house of Israel, who will fall by sword and famine and plague.

Ezekiel 6:11, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

God speaks through Ezekiel, a prophet among the exiles in Babylon, and here commands the prophet himself to act out grief and horror. Clapping and stomping are not celebration but a public gesture of dismay over the abominations of the house of Israel, the idolatry condemned throughout the chapter.
