Ezekiel 7:8 meaning and explanation

Very soon I will pour out My wrath upon you and vent My anger against you; I will judge you according to your ways and repay you for all your abominations.

Ezekiel 7:8, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

God speaks through Ezekiel to the exiles in Babylon and to the land of Israel, announcing that judgment is no longer a distant threat. The Hebrew verb shaphak, "pour out," pictures wrath like liquid tipped from a vessel, and the parallel line intensifies it: God will vent his anger, judge according to their ways, and repay their abominations.
