Now, brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.

Paul is answering the charge, likely from the agitators in Galatia, that he himself still preached circumcision, perhaps because of Timothy (Acts 16:3). He turns it back on them: if he still preached circumcision, the persecution he faces from law-minded opponents would have ceased.
