The brothers are speaking among themselves in Egypt, not knowing that the Egyptian official before them is Joseph, the brother they sold into slavery some twenty years earlier. Verses 6 and 7 say he recognized them while they did not recognize him, and verse 24 shows him turning aside to weep.
