However, when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak what He hears, and He will declare to you what is to come.

Jesus speaks these words to his disciples on the night before his death, after telling them he is going away and that his departure will bring them the Advocate. He calls the Holy Spirit the Spirit of truth, who will guide them into all truth, speaking not on his own but only what he hears, and declaring what is to come.
