Hebrews 11:10 meaning and explanation
For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
Hebrews 11:10, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The writer is describing Abraham, who obeyed God's call and then lived as a foreigner in the land promised to him, dwelling in tents rather than settled cities. Verse 10 gives the reason for that lifelong unsettledness: Abraham was not investing in an earthly home but looking forward to a city with permanent foundations.
