Hebrews 7:11 meaning and explanation
Now if perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood (for on this basis the people received the law), why was there still need for another priest to appear—one in the order of Melchizedek and not in the order of Aaron?
Hebrews 7:11, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The writer is arguing to Jewish believers who revered the Levitical priesthood. If that priesthood could have brought people to perfection, meaning complete and lasting access to God, there would have been no need for God to promise another priest in the order of Melchizedek, a priest from a different line than Aaron.
