Isaiah 22:3 meaning and explanation
All your rulers have fled together, captured without a bow. All your fugitives were captured together, having fled to a distant place.
Isaiah 22:3, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Isaiah speaks God's burden against Jerusalem, called here the Valley of Vision, as an Assyrian crisis closes in. The verse pictures the city's leaders and people fleeing in panic, yet being caught anyway: the rulers surrender without a bowshot, and the fugitives are seized even far from home.
