Isaiah 28:6 meaning and explanation
a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and a strength to those who repel the onslaught at the gate.
Isaiah 28:6, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Isaiah has just pronounced woe on Ephraim's drunkards, whose proud crown will be trampled, and now he turns to the remnant of God's people. In verse 6 the LORD of Hosts himself becomes what their leaders failed to be: a spirit of justice for the one who sits in judgment, and strength for those who turn back the attack at the city gate, the place where legal cases were heard and battles decided.
