Isaiah 33:23 meaning and explanation
Your ropes are slack; they cannot secure the mast or spread the sail. Then an abundance of spoils will be divided, and even the lame will carry off plunder.
Isaiah 33:23, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Isaiah 33 speaks to Judah under threat from a ruthless power, likely Assyria, whose envoys have come demanding surrender and whose treaty promises have collapsed. In verse 23 the prophet pictures that enemy as a ship whose rigging hangs loose, unable to hold the mast or spread the sail, so it cannot move or escape.
