Surely for my own welfare I had such great anguish; but Your love has delivered me from the pit of oblivion, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back.

Isaiah 38:17, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Hezekiah speaks these words in the psalm he wrote after his illness and recovery (verses 9 to 20). Looking back on his mortal sickness, he admits his anguish felt like it was for his own good, yet God's love rescued him from the pit of oblivion, that is, from death and the grave.
