Isaiah 48:8 meaning and explanation
You have never heard; you have never understood; for a long time your ears have not been open. For I knew how deceitful you are; you have been called a rebel from birth.
Isaiah 48:8, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
God speaks through the prophet to the exiles of Judah, people who carry Israel's name and swear by the LORD but whose hearts have long been closed. The verse presses past their claim to have heard: their ears were never really open, and God names the root, a deceitful bent described as rebellion from birth.
