Isaiah 48:9 meaning and explanation
For the sake of My name I will delay My wrath; for the sake of My praise I will restrain it, so that you will not be cut off.
Isaiah 48:9, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
God speaks through Isaiah to exiles in Babylon who bear Israel's name and swear by the LORD but, as verses 1 to 8 show, without truth and with a stubbornness like iron. Verse 9 gives the reason judgment has not fallen: not their merit but God's own name and praise.
