Isaiah 57:3 meaning and explanation
“But come here, you sons of a sorceress, you offspring of adulterers and prostitutes!
Isaiah 57:3, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
God has just described the peaceful death of the righteous, and now through Isaiah he turns to address the unfaithful within Israel directly. The sharp names are covenant language: a sorceress is one who seeks power apart from God, and adulterers and prostitutes describe a people who have broken faith with the LORD, an image the prophets use for idolatry.
