You will leave behind your name as a curse for My chosen ones, and the Lord GOD will slay you; but to His servants He will give another name.

In this closing oracle of Isaiah, the LORD speaks through the prophet to a divided community: those who forsake Him and those He calls "My servants." Verse 15 pronounces the outcome for the unfaithful. Their name will become a byword, a formula of cursing that the chosen ones use, much as a ruined name becomes a warning.
