Jeremiah 16:19 meaning and explanation
O LORD, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in the day of distress, the nations will come to You from the ends of the earth, and they will say, “Our fathers inherited nothing but lies, worthless idols of no benefit at all.
Jeremiah 16:19, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jeremiah speaks these words amid prophecies of coming judgment on Judah, and here he turns from warning to personal trust, calling the LORD his strength, fortress and refuge in the day of distress. The verse then widens to the nations, who will come from the ends of the earth and confess that the gods their ancestors inherited were lies and worthless idols.
