Jeremiah 22:15 meaning and explanation
Does it make you a king to excel in cedar? Did not your father have food and drink? He administered justice and righteousness, and so it went well with him.

Jeremiah is speaking to King Jehoiakim of Judah, who built himself a lavish palace with cedar paneling while forcing his countrymen to labor without pay (verses 13 to 14). The question in verse 15 is a rebuke: fine cedar does not make a king.
