Jeremiah is in the courtyard of the guard in besieged Jerusalem, imprisoned for announcing that Babylon will take the city. The LORD told him his cousin Hanamel would offer him a field at Anathoth, and Jeremiah bought it as a sign that houses, fields and vineyards will again be bought in the land.
