Jeremiah 35:15 meaning and explanation

Again and again I have sent you all My servants the prophets, proclaiming: ‘Turn now, each of you, from your wicked ways, and correct your actions. Do not go after other gods to serve them. Live in the land that I have given to you and your fathers.’ But you have not inclined your ear or listened to Me.

Jeremiah 35:15, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

The LORD is speaking through Jeremiah to the people of Judah and Jerusalem, and he contrasts them with the Rechabites, who obeyed their ancestor Jonadab's command about wine and tents. God says he sent his prophets "again and again," a phrase stressing patient repetition, calling each person to turn from wicked ways, correct their actions, and stop serving other gods so they might remain in the land he gave their fathers.
